  1. Discrete Point Expansion for Excitation Systems
    This board is installed to supplement insufficient native onboard I/O of the master controller, adding 16 DI channels for equipment status collection and 8 DO channels for interlock trip output. It is used for acquiring status of generator disconnectors, de-excitation switches and cooling fans as well as local fault feedback and implementing trip interlock output.
  2. Grouped Opto-isolation Prevents Fault Propagation
    Both DI and DO circuits are split into 4-channel independent opto-isolated groups. Short-circuit or leakage on any field wiring only disables the faulty channel without impacting the rest of the board or master control loop, preventing unintended AVR maloperation triggered by field-side faults.
  3. Per-channel Hardware Self-diagnosis
    Corresponding LED illuminates for open DI wiring or short-circuited DO load; fault codes are uploaded to COB master controller and DCS HMI via ARCnet for rapid field wiring troubleshooting.

IV. Working Principle


Power-on Self-test: After 24VDC energization, the board runs diagnostics for onboard power supply, optocoupler circuits and ARCnet communication chips before completing bus handshake with COB master board and MUB measurement board.
DI Signal Acquisition: Field disconnector and equipment dry contact signals are wired into terminals, converted into internal digital logic levels after opto-isolation and cyclically uploaded to master controller.
DO Output: Interlock commands issued by master controller are isolated and amplified before being output via terminals to drive external intermediate relays and auxiliary contacts of de-excitation circuits.
Data Interaction: Packed DI data is transmitted to COB via ARCnet while DO control instructions are downloaded from the master; faulty channels are latched with alarm status and relevant fault information uploaded.
