Description
GE Fanuc IC697MEM735
I. Basic Information
Model: IC697MEM735Brand: GE Fanuc (Emerson)Series: GE Series 90-70 VME Bus PLC Control SystemProduct Type: 32-bit CMOS CPU dedicated memory expansion daughterboard, installed as a sub-card on the CPU motherboard without occupying independent rack slots, serving as the essential operating and data storage hardware for 780/781/782/788/789 series CPUs, since the original CPU baseboard is not equipped with built-in RAM.
Product Positioning
IC697MEM735 provides four standard capacity configurations: 128KB SRAM, 256KB SRAM, 256KB SRAM+256KB non-volatile Flash, 512KB SRAM, which supports large complex control programs, batch process data, formula parameters and fault log storage. SRAM relies on the IC697ACC701 lithium battery for power-failure data backup with a maximum 6-month data retention period; the Flash version can permanently solidify programs and key parameters even when the battery fails, avoiding system shutdown caused by program loss. Equipped with byte-level parity check and CPU global checksum dual error detection mechanism, it can timely alarm for memory hardware damage and data bit flip faults, widely used in thermal power, metallurgy, petrochemical and other process industrial main control systems as a standard replacement spare part for hardware failure and program capacity expansion renovation.
Hardware Architecture
The module adopts flame-retardant PCB with conformal coating, complying with VME C.1 bus specification, consisting of five core functional units: 32-bit CMOS high-speed storage unit, byte-level parity error detection unit, dedicated CPU daughterboard interface unit, backup power management unit, ESD and surge electromagnetic protection unit. The daughterboard obtains power from the CPU backplane 5V bus, with impedance-matched signal lines to suppress high-frequency bus interference and ensure stable memory read-write operation.

IV. Working Principle
After power-off installation and fixing on the CPU motherboard, the memory daughterboard completes hardware initialization, parity check and global checksum self-test when the rack is powered on. The CPU loads the user program into SRAM for cyclic scanning operation, and continuously verifies data integrity and battery voltage during operation. In case of power failure, the lithium battery supplies backup power to SRAM for temporary data retention; the Flash area can permanently store key programs, which can be automatically loaded to restore system operation after long-term power failure and battery exhaustion. After replacing the memory daughterboard, the system automatically identifies the hardware, and the control function can be restored by downloading the backup program.
