I. Product Overview


Bently Nevada 3500/15 is a dedicated rack power supply module for the Baker Hughes Bently Nevada 3500 series machinery protection system. As the power supply core of the whole condition monitoring system, it converts various industrial AC and DC input voltages into stable standard backplane operating voltage, continuously supplies power to all functional cards such as vibration monitoring, keyphasor, communication and relay in the rack, and ensures stable operation of real-time parameter collection and safety interlock protection for key rotating equipment such as steam turbines, compressors and fans in terms of vibration, axial displacement and rotating speed.


As a half-height rack-specific hardware, it can only be installed in the exclusive dual half-height slots on the left side of the 3500 rack, supporting single power supply and dual redundant power supply deployment. Under redundant configuration, it supports module hot swapping, and the primary and backup power supplies can seamlessly switch within milliseconds. Equipped with comprehensive hardware protection including overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit and overheat protection, it has passed CE, UL, Class I Div2 and ATEX explosion-proof certifications. Its wide-temperature and wide-voltage design enables 24/7 stable operation in closed control cabinets with high temperature, dust and strong electromagnetic interference in power, chemical, metallurgical and other industries, serving as a key spare part for unit overhaul, redundant system renovation and faulty spare part replacement.


II. Hardware Structure and Composition


1. Voltage-stabilized Power Conversion Unit

It adopts industrial isolated switching power supply topology, built-in high-frequency filtering and surge suppression circuits to rectify, stabilize and isolate wide-range input voltage, and outputs stable DC voltage to supply power for all rack backplane modules. The full-load power conversion efficiency is higher than 85%. It features adaptive capability for input voltage fluctuation, which can resist instantaneous grid voltage drop and spike impact, avoiding system crash and module offline faults caused by voltage disturbance.


2. Multi-specification Input Wiring Supporting Components

It must be matched with the corresponding PIM power input terminal modules, divided into four input types: universal AC, high-voltage AC, high-voltage DC and low-voltage DC. The wiring terminal is equipped with anti-loose fastening structure and grounding protection terminal, and the input loop has built-in fuse protection to prevent burnout of the main power supply circuit caused by field wiring short circuit and reverse polarity. Different types of main power modules must be matched with PIM terminal assemblies of the same generation, and old and new versions cannot be mixed.


3. Panel Status Diagnosis Indicator Unit

A green Supply OK status indicator is mounted on the front panel. The indicator lights up steadily when the power input is normal and the output voltage is stable; if the indicator goes out, it indicates faults such as power loss, overload, overheat and short circuit. Maintenance personnel can quickly locate abnormal power supply points through the indicator without upper configuration software, shortening system downtime and troubleshooting time.


4. Backplane Bus Power Supply Output Loop

It is reliably connected with the system backplane through the gold fingers of the left rack slot. Multiple isolated and stabilized outputs independently supply power to the backplane communication bus, module control loop and signal acquisition loop. Short circuit of a single rear load will only trigger power supply current limiting protection without interrupting the overall power supply of the whole machine. Under redundant architecture, it can automatically switch to the backup power supply for continuous load operation.


5. Industrial Protective Housing Installation Structure

The metal flame-retardant shielded housing features anti-vibration and anti-electromagnetic radiation performance. It adopts standard half-height rack buckle locking installation mode, equipped with panel fixing screws for anti-loosening and anti-falling. A special grounding terminal is reserved on the housing to suppress electromagnetic interference from space into the power supply loop, avoiding sampling distortion and communication intermittent faults.
