Description
ABB W2E200-HH38-06
ABB W2E200-HH38-06 is an industrial-grade external rotor centrifugal cooling fan OEM-manufactured by ebm-papst of Germany. Custom-built for ABB frequency converters and industrial control equipment, it is core-compatible with the CDC module, 550A and 700A power modules of the ACS 800 series frequency converters, serving as a critical cooling component to ensure the long-term stable operation of the equipment. Featuring low-voltage compatibility, high temperature resistance and stable air volume, this fan is made of aluminum alloy with optimized blade design, enabling efficient dissipation of heat generated during equipment operation. It is widely used in precision cooling systems for industrial automation, power electronics and other scenarios.
1. Product Attributes
As a dedicated cooling accessory for ABB frequency converters, this fan is positioned as a high-reliability industrial cooling unit. Distinguished from ordinary civil fans, it focuses on meeting the stringent adaptation requirements of industrial working conditions. The specific basic information is as follows:
- Product Model: W2E200-HH38-06 (Product Code: 10012171, old code replaced by A0012171P000)
- Product Type: External rotor centrifugal low-voltage fan, classified as an industrial-grade cooling fan unit
- Core Purpose: Provide directional cooling for the CDC module, 550A power module and 700A power module of ABB ACS 800 series frequency converters (mainly ACS 800-x04 models), prevent equipment from triggering protection shutdown due to overheating, and extend the service life of circuit components
2. Technical Specifications
2.1 Electrical Performance Parameters
- Power Supply Specifications: Wide voltage compatibility with 200-240V AC, supporting dual frequencies of 50/60Hz to meet power grid standards in different regions; rated current is 0.29A (50Hz)/0.35A (60Hz), power consumption is 67W (50Hz)/79W (60Hz), achieving excellent operation power consumption control
- Rotation Speed and Airflow: The rotation speed is adaptively adjusted with frequency, reaching 2550r/min at 50Hz and 2800r/min at 60Hz; equipped with a 6-blade design, the airflow direction is upward, which can form stable low-pressure airflow and efficiently cover the cooling area of the equipment
- Additional Functions: Equipped with an independent wire thermal contact, which can monitor the operating temperature of the fan in real time and trigger signal feedback in case of abnormalities, facilitating equipment fault early warning
2.2 Physical and Material Specifications
- Material Composition: The whole fan is made of aluminum alloy, and the turbine head is integrally formed of aluminum-magnesium alloy, which combines light weight and heat dissipation performance. The shell is corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant, capable of resisting slight dust erosion in industrial sites
- Installation Compatibility: As a dedicated built-in fan for equipment, it needs to be fixed with the original mounting position of ABB frequency converters. It is recommended to use self-locking screws of 8.8-grade strength for fastening to prevent loosening caused by vibration; the screw depth and specific installation dimensions can refer to the official product drawings
- Structural Design: Adopting an external rotor structure design, it has high integration and compact volume, which can be seamlessly embedded into the module cooling channel of ACS 800 series frequency converters without requiring additional expansion of installation space
2.3 Environmental Adaptability
- Operating Temperature: Adapted to the high-temperature environment inside the frequency converter, it can operate stably within the range of -20℃~60℃, withstand high-temperature airflow discharged from the equipment cooling channel, and has a long mean time between failures
Anti-interference and Protection: Although there is no clear IP protection rating marked, the aluminum alloy shell can effectively prevent dust, suitable for installation environments in industrial control rooms and on-site cabinets. The electrical wiring part has basic insulation protection
3. Compatible Systems and Hardware Combinations
- Compatible Main Equipment: Core-compatible with ABB ACS 800 series frequency converters, with a focus on ACS 800-x04 models; it cannot be randomly replaced with cooling fans of other series of frequency converters
- Compatible Modules: Specifically designed for CDC modules, 550A power modules and 700A power modules, which can accurately match the size and cooling requirements of the module cooling channels
- Supporting Components: Need to be used with the original wiring terminals and fixing brackets of the frequency converter; the wires of thermal contacts must be connected to the equipment control system to realize temperature monitoring and fault feedback functions

4. Product Features
4.1 Dedicated Adaptability and Precise Compatibility
As a custom fan for ABB, it fully matches the structural design and cooling requirements of ACS 800 series frequency converters, achieving seamless adaptation in terms of installation dimensions and electrical parameters, thus avoiding insufficient cooling or installation interference caused by improper adaptation of general-purpose fans. The exclusive design of thermal contacts can link with the frequency converter control system to form a complete cooling monitoring closed loop.
4.2 Industrial-grade Reliability and Stable Operation
4.3 Easy Installation and Low Operation & Maintenance Cost
5. Safe Operation and Precautions
5.1 Installation and Operation Specifications
- Installation, disassembly and maintenance work must be performed by trained qualified technicians. Before operation, all power supplies of the frequency converter and fan must be disconnected, and the Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedure must be implemented. After disconnecting the voltage, wait for 5 minutes to allow internal capacitors to discharge completely before operation to avoid electric shock hazards.
- During installation, use self-locking screws of 8.8-grade strength, control the screw depth according to the requirements of official drawings, ensure the fan is firmly fixed, prevent screw loosening or fan displacement due to vibration during operation, and avoid affecting the cooling effect.
During wiring, check the terminal definitions to ensure the correct connection of power positive and negative poles and thermal contact wires, avoid fan burnout or monitoring function failure caused by reverse connection; regularly inspect the wiring terminals and replace loose or damaged ones immediately.
5.2 Maintenance and Safety Warnings
- It is strictly prohibited to modify, retrofit or alter the structure of the fan without official approval from ABB or ebm-papst; otherwise, it may lead to reduced cooling performance, equipment failure and even safety accidents.
- Regularly clean dust accumulation on fan blades and shells to avoid blocking cooling channels; at the same time, regularly inspect the status of electrical components, perform safety tests with reference to the equipment manual, and replace aging wires or faulty components in a timely manner.
- Rotating parts and slight heat will be generated during fan operation; it is strictly prohibited to touch the fan blades while the equipment is running. A certain ventilation space must be reserved in the installation area to avoid blocking the airflow channel.
- Waste or faulty fans must be disposed of in accordance with industrial waste disposal standards and shall not be discarded at will to ensure environmental compliance.
