Hardware Structure

IV. Working Principle

GE CT12AUF2K0MA current transformer operates based on the electromagnetic induction principle, realizing accurate proportional conversion from high-voltage primary current to low-voltage secondary current through iron core magnetic coupling. The equipment is connected in series to the 10kV high-voltage busbar loop. When load current or fault current flows through the primary busbar, alternating magnetic flux is generated in the iron core.


The alternating magnetic flux cuts the secondary winding to induce standard proportional secondary current signals. The metering winding is optimized for steady-state power frequency current to ensure daily power metering accuracy; the protection winding optimizes iron core anti-saturation characteristics to maintain linear output without waveform or amplitude distortion under short-circuit transient large current conditions.
