Manufacturer: Bently Nevada. It is the core backplane motherboard for the 3500 Machinery Protection Monitoring System. PWA stands for Printed Wiring Assembly, and 103955-01 is the fixed factory hardware revision. As the bottom-layer core interconnection hardware of the 3500 rack, it requires no separate rack slot. It supplies distributed power and data bus interconnection for all plug-in cards inside the cabinet.


Compatible Rack: Exclusively designed for the standard 19-inch 3500 main frame base (3500/05 frame). It fully supports all 3500 series cards including 3500/15 power supply, 3500/22M frame interface, 3500/42/45 displacement monitor, 3500/50 relay module, 3500/65 temperature monitor, 3500/25 keyphasor and 3500/93 display interface, and adapts to simplex, dual redundant and TMR triple redundant TSI architecture.

2.1 Multi-Channel Graded Power Distribution Unit

It receives +5V, ±15V isolated regulated power from 3500/15 power supply modules, and distributes power to all 14 standard slots via thickened copper busbars on the PCB. Each slot is equipped with an independent current-limiting loop; short circuit on one daughter card only cuts off power of the corresponding slot instead of the entire rack. Widened thick copper traces guarantee stable current carrying under full load to avoid overheating, oxidation and excessive voltage drop.


2.2 Full-Rack High-Speed Parallel Backplane Bus Unit

Dedicated multi-bit parallel data bus, address bus and handshake signal bus are etched on the PCB, with each slot pin fully connected to the bus matrix. Hardware bus arbitration prevents data collision and bus lockup during simultaneous transmission by multiple modules, ensuring orderly execution of data refresh, alarm upload and configuration download.


2.3 Mechanical Positioning & Anti-Reverse Insertion Unit

Differentiated foolproof notches are set for each slot to prevent reverse insertion which would burn out edge connectors and chip circuits. Riveted metal reinforcement pillars lock the PCB rigidly to the 3500/05 base frame to resist PCB deformation and poor pin contact caused by long-term unit vibration.


2.4 Ground Shielding & EMI Filtering Unit

A full-area ground plane shielding layer is embedded in the PCB. All signal buses are wrapped with shielded ground loops, and the rack earth pin is unified to cabinet protective earth. Magnetic beads and feedthrough capacitor filter arrays are installed at power input ports to suppress inlet noise and cabinet electromagnetic interference, eliminating data fluctuation, random self-test faults and false alarms.


2.5 Slot Pin Hardware Fault Current Limiting Unit

Each signal pin is serially connected with current-limiting resistors and TVS transient suppression diodes. Electrostatic surge from hot swapping is clamped and current limited to isolate faults within a single slot, preventing breakdown of the global backplane bus caused by a faulty daughter card.

High-Tg flame-retardant FR-4 PCB substrate with full conformal coating against moisture, salt fog and corrosion.
