Description

GE VMIVME-2536

Overview

The GE VMIVME-2536 is a high-performance Single-Board Computer (SBC) based on the VME (VersaModule Eurocard) bus architecture. Specifically designed for industries with extreme reliability and real-time requirements, such as industrial automation, data acquisition, and military aviation, it efficiently handles complex tasks through powerful processing capabilities, rich I/O interfaces, and flexible expandability. This ensures stable system operation in harsh environments, providing users with reliable computing and control solutions.

Functional Features

Robust Processing Performance
Equipped with a high-performance processor and advanced chipset technology, it excels in multi-tasking, rapidly responding to and executing complex algorithms. Whether processing real-time data on industrial production lines or running high-precision computing programs in military equipment, it meets all high-intensity computing needs with ease.
Diverse I/O Interfaces
  • Features standard I/O interfaces, including Ethernet for high-speed network communication, enabling data interaction and remote management.
  • Traditional interfaces (serial, parallel) are compatible with peripheral devices like sensors and actuators for effective control of industrial field equipment.
  • Dedicated VME bus interface facilitates collaboration with other VME devices to build complex multi-processor systems.
Flexible Expandability
Designed with expansion slots supporting functional modules (e.g., data acquisition, communication), it allows users to customize device functions based on application requirements, adapting to diverse project scenarios and enhancing versatility.
High Reliability & Stability
Adopting industrial-grade design standards, it offers excellent anti-interference and environmental adaptability, operating stably in harsh conditions (high/low temperature, humidity, vibration). Built-in fault diagnosis and self-protection mechanisms detect and resolve potential issues promptly, minimizing failure risks and ensuring long-term system stability.

Working Principle

System Startup Process
  1. Upon power-on, the power management module stabilizes the input voltage to supply components.
  2. The processor loads the BIOS from flash memory, which initializes hardware (memory self-check, I/O configuration, device parameter setup).
  3. After initialization, the system reads and runs the OS image from storage (e.g., HDD, SSD) according to the preset boot order, completing startup.
Data Processing Flow
  • The processor parses and executes tasks via program instructions.
  • External data (e.g., industrial sensor data) is transmitted to memory via I/O interfaces, processed by the CPU, and the results are stored back or output to external devices.
  • In multi-tasking scenarios, the OS allocates CPU resources through task scheduling to ensure efficient execution.
Bus Communication Principle
Based on VME bus architecture, the VMIVME-2536 communicates with other VME devices via the VME interface, following the VME protocol. It can act as a master to initiate data transfer or a slave to respond to requests. The bus arbitration mechanism coordinates communication, ensuring accurate and efficient data transmission for collaborative operation.
