Description
I. Product Overview
Bently Nevada 3500/42M (Part No.126632-01, internal I/O terminal version) is a 4-channel universal proximity/seismic monitor module for the 3500 machinery protection system. It accepts signals from proximity transducers, velocity and acceleration seismic sensors, and can be configured in two channel groups to realize multiple monitoring functions including radial vibration, thrust position, differential expansion, eccentricity, REBAM, vibration velocity and acceleration, complying with API 670 and SIL2 safety standards. Each channel is equipped with isolated 4-20mA recorder output and short-circuit protected BNC buffered interface for field waveform diagnosis. Real-time measured data, alarm status and sensor fault information are uploaded to relay modules, DCS and System 1 platform via redundant backplane bus. Supporting hot-swap replacement and TMR triple redundant deployment, the module is widely applied in TSI safety protection, spare part replacement and measuring point expansion of rotating equipment in power, petrochemical and metallurgical industries.
II. Hardware Structure and Composition
1. 4-channel High-precision Signal Acquisition Unit
Four independent input channels provide -24VDC power for proximity preamplifiers, with 10kΩ input impedance and multi-stage hardware anti-interference filtering. Real-time self-diagnosis detects open/short circuit, abnormal gap voltage and transducer faults. Channels are grouped in pairs for flexible mixed-function configuration to meet multi-parameter monitoring demands.
2. Alarm Operation & Multi-type Signal Output Unit
Dual alert/danger threshold configuration with adjustable alarm delay and latch logic prevents false trips caused by transient load fluctuation. Isolated 4-20mA outputs realize remote data transmission, while BNC buffered interfaces support on-site fault waveform capture for rotating machinery failure root cause analysis.
3. Redundant Backplane Bus Communication Unit
Proprietary high-speed rack backplane bus achieves bidirectional transmission of measurement data, alarm status and diagnostic information. Hot-swap maintenance is supported without interrupting safety interlock loops of other channels, effectively reducing unplanned production loss during equipment overhaul.
4. Status Indication & Industrial Protection Unit
Front-panel LEDs display module health, bus communication and channel bypass status. Multi-level electrical surge and reverse voltage protection, three-proof coated PCB and metal reinforced housing ensure stable operation under harsh cabinet environments with high temperature, dust and continuous mechanical vibration. The 126632-01 internal terminal design simplifies field wiring for compact cabinet layout.
5. Standard Single-slot Rack Mounting Unit
Fully backward compatible with all 3500 series racks for direct in-situ replacement of legacy monitor cards. Three adjacent slots support TMR 2-out-of-3 voting architecture to satisfy SIL2 high-level safety requirements for critical rotating machinery protection.

IV. Product Functions and Features
1. Grouped Channel Flexible Configuration Optimizes Cabinet Hardware Layout
Two independent channel groups support different monitoring parameter configuration, realizing mixed access of multiple sensor types, reducing the number of installed modules and field wiring workload for multi-point TSI monitoring projects.
2. Gap Voltage Monitoring & Hardware Filter Effectively Suppress False Alarms
Real-time gap voltage tracking realizes early warning of probe wear and cable aging; multi-stage filtering and delay alarm logic eliminate false protection actions caused by transient electromagnetic interference and unit load fluctuation.
3. Dual Output Modes Meet Local Diagnosis & Centralized Control Demands
BNC raw signal interfaces support precision rotating machinery fault diagnosis, while isolated analog outputs enable centralized data uploading and trend analysis for predictive maintenance management.
4. Full-loop Fault Diagnosis & Channel Bypass Ensure Maintenance Safety
Transducer loop fault detection prevents protection failure caused by measuring circuit abnormality; the bypass function allows sensor calibration and wiring maintenance without system shutdown, guaranteeing operational safety of high-risk process facilities.
5. TMR Redundancy & Hot-swap Eliminate Single-point Safety Risks
The 2-out-of-3 hardware voting architecture complies with SIL2 safety specifications for critical unit ETS emergency trip loops; online module replacement maintains degraded dual-channel protection to avoid safety interlock removal during maintenance.
6. Rugged Wide-temperature Design Enables Long-term Unattended Operation
Fanless passive heat dissipation and industrial three-proof technology adapt to 24/7 continuous harsh industrial operation, requiring only regular terminal inspection and periodic channel precision calibration for stable long-term operation.
V. Application Scenarios
- TSI vibration, thrust position and differential expansion safety interlock protection for turbine units in thermal, gas and hydropower plants.
- Bearing vibration online monitoring and over-limit shutdown protection for centrifugal and reciprocating compressors in petrochemical and LNG facilities.
- Predictive maintenance data acquisition for large fans, pumps and reducers in metallurgy, cement and air separation industries.
- SIL2 high-level safety protection system construction adopting TMR triple redundant architecture for key rotating equipment.
- Spare part replacement and wiring optimization upgrading of legacy 3500 TSI monitoring systems with internal terminal module deployment.
