The proximitor outputs high-frequency alternating excitation current to the internal coil of the probe, generating alternating magnetic field which induces closed eddy current loop on the surface of AISI 4140 ferromagnetic target. The equivalent impedance of the coil changes linearly with the clearance between probe tip and metal surface, and the proximitor converts impedance variation into standardized negative DC voltage signal transmitted to the 3500 monitoring rack. Vibration and axial displacement cause real-time clearance fluctuation and voltage variation, which is converted into physical displacement parameters for data trending, threshold alarm and safety interlock.
