The 1734-VHSC24 is a POINT IO 24VDC High-Speed Counter Module mediates between customer’s process signals and the POINT BUS back plain module which conveys command information, via the signal conditioner and the function block. It is a cUL-us, CE certified, and DIN rail mounted counter module with an open-style enclosure. The 1734-VHSC24 24V weighs approximately 1.15 oz, with dimensions of 2.21in x 0.47in x 2.97in. This module acts as signal conditioners and function blocks through the provided counter instruction inside the Programmable Logic Memory (PLC). This counter is ideally designed for use with encoder for position and motion control, Pulse generators such as speed sensors through the cutting of magnetic flux, Mechanical limit switches for product counters, totalizers from transmitters and many other applications. This module can accept up to 1 MHz of switching frequency. Input filtering is provided with this module to fine tune the counting accuracy and to eliminate unwanted noises. Adjustable frequencies include 50 Hz, 500 Hz, 5 kHz, 50 kHz or turned off. The module’s count is in the form of a 24-Bit binary format which ranges 0 to 16, 777,215 which is then stored inside a 32-BIT register. This counter module includes a user-selectable preset and rollover settings. This very high-speed counter module may operate in Counter, Encoder, Period/rate mode, Continuous/rate mode, Rate measurement mode, Pulse width modulation (PWM) mode, and Pulse generator mode. The main difference with a Counter and encoder function is that in Counter mode, the module reads incoming single-phase pulses while in Encoder mode, Two-Phase quadrature pulses are read.
